This site transforms Earth into a 'Tron' map of the world

Have you ever wondered if our world was one big computer simulation? Well, if it is, we’ll probably never know, but now you can imagine what the big reveal might look like thanks to a beautiful new project that turns any real world location into a Tron style animated map.

Vector Map requires a WebGL-enabled browser to see its magic, but if your current browser isn’t up to the task, trust us, this is worth the update effort.

The map, created using Mapzen’s Tangram mapping software and data from 3D map database OpenStreetMap, plunges you into a neon-esque, animated map version of any area on the planet, as long as you have the right coordinates.

Discovered by Maps Mania, Vector Map doesn’t appear to have an easy search function just yet, but you can go here to gather your preferred coordinate information and then add each coordinate (separated by a forward slash) to the end of this URL (replacing the existing coordinates).

Exploring the Tron-ified world takes a little doing, but once you get a look at sights like the Eiffel Tower in Paris (above) transformed into a pulsing video game image, you’ll soon forget the small hurdles required to traverse this sci-fi version of our planet.
